Jewelry Artistry...Exploring different Materials by Karin Hermansen (Ages 9 and up)
July 14-18 | 1:00 PM-3:00 PM
Students will create various jewelry pieces using different materials and styles, enhancing their craftsmanship and artistic expression. This class is for beginners in jewelry making, offering hands-on projects with beads, wire, fabric, yarn, and paper. Participants will develop design and assembly skills, supported by guided instruction and collaboration with peers, fostering a community of artists. By the end, students will have several completed jewelry pieces that showcase their personal style and skills, emphasizing the joy of hands-on creation.
Karin has lived in Cannon Beach since 1997, having been born and raised in Northern Minnesota. Encouraged by her mother, a skilled painter, she fostered a love for arts and crafts through activities like weaving and crocheting. In high school, she explored painting, photography, and pottery. Karin graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in sales/marketing and fashion merchandising, later earning a Bachelor of Science in distributive education and marketing from the University of North Dakota. Before moving to Cannon Beach, she worked as an independent sales representative in the gift industry. There, she found a passion for card making and jewelry design, inspired by a bracelet from her grandmother's jewelry. The calming colors of the ocean influence her work. Self-taught, Karin enjoys incorporating new techniques into her creations.
