INHERITANCE
May 7 – June 6, 2027
Cannon Beach Gallery presents Inheritance, a group exhibition featuring ceramic artist Randy McClelland, exploring Japanese American identity through personal experience, cultural memory, and the meaning of belonging.
Working primarily in wood-fired ceramics, McClelland uses vessels and sculptural forms to reflect on the stories, traditions, and histories carried across generations. Through approximately fifteen ceramic works and a multidisciplinary installation incorporating printmaking, ceramics, and found objects, the exhibition considers how cultural identity is shaped by what we inherit, what we remember, and what we choose to carry forward.
Presented in recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Inheritance invites visitors to reflect on the connections between personal history and collective memory, and the ways culture continues to evolve through lived experience and artistic expression.
