We are also honored to receive donations in celebration of or in memory of a family member or friend. This is a wonderful way to express your appreciation of that individual as well as the arts in our community. Our membership form includes an area for such donations and appropriate notification of the donation is always sent to the family member or friend that you designate.
In 2006 the Cannon Beach Arts Association established an endowment fund through the Oregon Community Foundation. An anonymous CBAA member was generous enough to pledge $12,500. With matching contributions from our members and supporters, we were able to begin with a fund of over $25,000. The principal will remain in the fund, and it is our goal to allow the fund to grow through invested earnings and additional contributions, eventually helping to fund programs such as the Gallery, the Individual Artist Grant, Art Scholarships, Summer Concerts in the Park, and the Children's Summer Art Camp. This fund will play a necessary and important part in our future solvency and credibility and become part of a permanent legacy to the arts in Cannon Beach. We welcome your contribution to the CBAA endowment fund. If you choose to send a donation by mail, please be sure to specify that it is for the endowment fund. Please call us at 503-436-0744 or for more information on becoming a member at any level.
The Cannon Beach Arts Association is run almost entirely by volunteers (with the exception of a paid part-time Gallery consultant). The CBAA would be unable to operate without its volunteer Board of Directors, committee members and Cannon Beach Gallery staff. There are several different ways to volunteer your time for the CBAA.
The Cannon Beach Gallery is our primary volunteer opportunity. Volunteers staff the desk at the gallery, make sales of artwork and interact with visitors. Experience is not necessary! All you need is an interest in the arts and some extra time. We will provide all training required for the position. Volunteers who are artists also have the opportunity to exhibit their work on our volunteer wall by fulfilling a minimum time commitment each month. If you travel or are only in Cannon Beach in the summers, we are happy to tailor each volunteer's schedule to meet both our needs.
The Cannon Beach Arts Association also uses volunteers in its other programs. There are opportunities to work with children or to help with literary and musical events. Maybe you have grant writing or carpentry skills that you would like to use to help with special projects.
Whatever your interests if you want to find out how to get involved as a volunteer for the Cannon Beach Arts Association. Please call us at 503-436-0744 or for more information on becoming a member at any level.
The Cannon Beach Arts Association has benefited greatly over the years from the charitable giving of many corporations and businesses through sponsorship of musical events, funding of special projects and contributions to children's programs. Generous in-kind contributions of lodging, food, services and art and office supplies have always been a valuable resource for the CBAA.
If your business would like to find out more about sponsorship of events or in-kind contributions we would be happy to hear from you. Please call us at 503-436-0744 or for more information on becoming a member at any level.
Are you an artist living on the Northern Oregon Coast?
Cannon Beach's only non-profit gallery is recruiting new Docents for summer.
If you are interested, consider coming to our Docent Meeting on Wednesday, June 15 at 2pm to find out more information. Or call the Cannon Beach Gallery at 503-436-0744 and ask to speak with the director, Andrea Mace.
Docents work six hours a month at the desk, answering questions about our rotating exhibits and making sales. In trade, docents get to contribute to the vitality of the arts in the region by staffing a truly wonderful gallery that provides a venue for emerging and professional artists from all over the Northwest. In addition, Docents have unique opportunities to exhibit their artwork in the gallery and receive 10% off of all purchases.
The Cannon Beach Gallery is a program of the non-profit Cannon Beach Arts Association, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2011.
