10th Annual Summer Art Camp July 23-27, 2012

We are pleased to offer the 10th Annual Art Camp from July 23-27, 2012, with sessions running at 10-12 AM and 1-4 PM. Class offerings range from preschoolers to adults.
Tuition: $65 ($55 for CBAA members) Scholarships are available.
All classes are held at Cannon Beach Elementary School- 268 Beaver St. Cannon Beach, OR.

Woodcarving Elements (for ages 12 - adults)
Teacher: Bill Bennett
An exciting new course to give the beginning woodcarver a basic understanding of tools, materials and technique. Using elementary carving and drawing techniques, we will practice with different wood types, learn layout and finish processes to create moderately complex structures. Bring a pocket knife - 2 or 3 bladed, handle 2-3 inches. (No Swiss Army or Boy Scout type-knives).
Creative Play and Outdoor Art for Preschoolers
Teacher: Andrea Mace
Mess makers and movers and groovers unite! Come play with paint, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, music, rhythms and dance. We'll make fairy houses on the beach, practice rhymes and sing silly songs. Anyone 5 and under is welcome, accompanied by an adult.
Creating Colorful, Imaginative Cartoons (for ages 5-8)
Teacher: Ireta Sitts-Graube
Learn to draw fun cartoons and fill them with gorgeous watercolor paint. You'll love your creations.
Basics of Digital Photography (for ages 8-11)
Teacher: Linda Cook
Learn safe handling of your camera, memory cards, LCD screens. Learn how to focus your shots, shoot what you love or fascinates you and create a collage of your favorite photos. Bring your digital camera with an empty memory card in it.
Magic For Minors - Tricks Are For Kids! (for ages 8-12)
Teacher: Brett Willyard
Become a real life magician and learn the secrets magicians don't want you to know. We'll learn simple but powerful card tricks, how to use sleight of hand and work on presentation. We'll put on a magic show the last day.
Bookbinding/Printmaking (for ages 9 - adult)
Teacher: Barbara Temple Ayres
Discover the fun of simple and complex bookmaking, incorporating papers you've decorated, using simple off-press printmaking techniques. We'll experiment with rubber stamps, bubbles, paste, chalk rubbings, marbling, monoprinting, and make some easy folded books and a sewn hard-bound book.
Dance Team 2012 (for ages 10 - adult)
Teacher: C.C. Siboney
Choose your favorite dance style from ballet to hip hop to folk dancing. Learn new moves and together we'll create our own dance routine to perform at the end of the week. Wear comfortable clothes.
More Than Just a Painting (for ages 12 - adult)
Teacher: Susan Simon
Wax painting is filled with spirit and wonder. The class will use melted wax, colors and a heat gun to create, experiment with and explore a world of magic. Class projects will include: treasure boxes, collage, self portraits and flags.
Fabulous Fun With Color (for ages 9 - adult)
Teacher: Lark Miller
Come ready to stamp, splash, splatter, experiment, and have fun with paints on fabric and paper. Using various techniques from around the world, we'll make flags, banners, sun prints and more. Wear grubbies and bring a pre-washed t-shirt to tie dye.
3-Dimensional Self Portraits (for ages 9-12)
Teacher: Deborah Starr
Beginning with a papier mache "head," we will use a variety of materials (including fabric, paint, yarn, paper, wood, beads) to create a figurative sculpture, incorporating our self image, how we believe others see us and the image we wish to communicate to the world.
