The Cannon Beach Arts Association (CBAA) is a multidisciplinary arts organization sponsoring the several educational programs.

A CBAA Scholarship Program has been established for graduating seniors of Seaside High School. The scholarship is awarded to a student(s) planning to pursue continuing education in the arts. This scholarship is not based on academic achievement and is not limited to students entering college. It is based on the arts interests and achievements of the students and their desire to pursue those interests. See the “Contact Us” page to reach us about specifics of this program.

A children’s Summer Art Camp brings weeklong art classes to students. During the last week of July (26-30th) children aged 4 to 14 years spend their afternoons exploring an art form with instructor/artists. Classes are very hands-on with lots of one-on-one attention and projects tailored to individual skill level.

The camp runs Monday through Friday, 1:00-4:00 PM at the Cannon Beach Elementary School. Typically, a child signs up for one class for the week and classes are limited to ten students.
The classes are:
- KidMyth. Taught by Susan Lynch for 4-6 yr. olds
Make up a story or two together and get a softcover book of it, to individually draw and color in class, and take home. All for one and all for fun! What's it say? Let's read it - Hooray!
- Under Watercolor Creatures. Taught by Ireta Sitts-Graube for 5-8 yr. olds
Imagine and explore what lives underwater and we'll bring it to life using our drawing and painting skills. We'll doodle, dabble and dribble.
- Sculpture: Monster Mess! Taught by Glenna Gray for 3-5th graders
We will be assembling recycled and some new materials into MONSTERS! using plaster, paper mache, paint and many other things. Wear clothes that can get messy and create something weird, amazing and maybe scary!
- Theater: Playwriting. Taught by Annie Naranjo-Rivera for 3-8th graders
Let's write a play together and produce and perform it for our public at the end of the week. No previous experience necessary.
- Bookbinding/Printmaking. Taught by Barbara Temple Ayres for 3-8 graders
Make your own hard-bound book covered with paper you decorate using sinple off-press printmaking techniques such as: rubber stamps, potato prints, bubbles, chalk, and marbling.
- Global Discoveries with Paint & Fabric. Taught by Lark Miller for 3-8th graders
Explore the centuries-old, multi-cultural realm of textile design. Have fun printing, painting, stamping & stitching and take home several unique works of art. Bring a white shirt to tie dye and wear paint friendly clothes.
- Expressive Painting with Wax. Taught by Susan Simon for 6-8th graders.
Come play with a 2,000 year old method of creating magical, transparent paintings using powdered pigments, oil sticks, collage, a heat source and beeswax.
Tuition is $50 or $40 for CBAA members and some scholarships are available. Class materials are all provided. The last hour on Friday is a casual showing of the work produced throughout the week and the parents and all interested community members are invited.
